The Promise
(Mime Ministry)
The Promise all started when Amy was called to a Song by Kirk Franklin called Always. During this time in both of their lives they were going through many trials that were painful as every servant of the Lord does. In listening to this song, God gave Amy dramatic movements to the song, which seemed to just flow right out from her. During this time period, Amy knew that the spirit of God was calling her and her younger brother Jesse to do something. At the time Amy was not sure what, but she knew that the Holy Spirit was guiding her to tell her brother and ask him to do a mime drama together.
The Mime idea came from when at one time in 1999 they had seen K&K Mime on Gospel Groves, but it was never given any thought there after. In time Amy felt that it would be something that Jesse would not want to do because of all the things going on in his life at the time. But the Holy Spirit was persistent and Amy had to be obedient.
Amy had mentioned it to Jesse and she recalls him saying it sounded good but he was not sure about being a mime. Jesse said, " He never liked mimes and he never thought he would ever be a mime". After that, Amy, Jesse and his wife Gabriela gathered at their home. Amy showed them the moves to the song God had given her and from there it was a go.
During this time there was a group which Jesse and Gabby became affiliated with called Club Zion. CZ is a group of young adults who would do dramas and human videos with Youth and had contacted Jesse to see if he would want to help with anything. Jesse and Gabriela were previously in Youth Ministry so they joined in to help.
The oppurtunity was now there to mention that they had this new idea that they would like to introduce. As Jesse mentioned it to CZ, Club Zion booked the idea and now Jesse and Amy were set to minister at New Joy Ministries.
Jesse and Amy now felt compelled to find a name for God's new ministry and so they discussed it and knew that they would have to pray that God give them a name quickly because everything seemed to be moving so fast once they had both agreed on doing this ministry.
During this same period Jesse and Amy and Gabriela were searching for a name when Jesse's wife Gabriela had mentioned The Promise as one on their list of names, they all agreed on it and liked it. Jesse and Amy also wanted their name and ministry to be backed up by scripture. When I immediatly Amy knew what the perfect scripture would be. This their scripture was given from remembering a previous sermon they had recieved by Pastor Cliff Eason, whom they were affiliated with through their attending Phoenix First Pastors' College together. Thus, God gave them the name of The Promise and His word in scripture for this ministry which is found in 2 Corinthians 1:20. For ALL the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him Amen, to the Glory of God through us.
Once Jesse and Amy ministered at CZ (Club Zion), God used them so tremendously, it was powerful and it ministered not only to the people but to Jesse and Amy more then anything. Encouraging words gave and built their confidence and hope, which they needed, in the mist of their strom. It proves once again that God knows what everyone needs and that He never leaves nor forsakes us in the mist of a trial.
From that point The Promise had Ministered in several churches within several different Communities:

Each are all a tremendous blessing to others and to them.
Through all this, Jesse and Amy believe that God is leading them to nations. It is their passion to see souls saved and transformed to worship and seek God with the whole heart. God has used The Promise to usher in His presence into the hearts of His people, but God has also usher into Jesse and Amy as well, always reminded them that the promise they made when they committed their lives to Christ was a promise that was eternal.
Jesse and Amy say, "We never would have imagined we would be where we are today. "We see the transformation of the hearts that God has placed us in and we look forward to the many more places we will be lead to".
